Description

Took me a while to draw and write this out, but I'm quite happy with the result. This is just the way I do it not the be all and end all of methods. Enjoy! ^_^

Step 1) draw the rough shape of the eye, this can be oval or round, or any odd shape that you want if you're going for something outlandish.
Step 2) Draw the iris as shown in the second pic, it can be bigger for cuter/younger characters
Step 3) draw the shine outline, this will help for later
Step 4) Draw the pupil (the black bit, which in this case is currently blue)
Step 5) I like to divide the eye this way to make it easier, so its optional:
a} draw a diagonal line from the top right to the bottom left so that it touches the side of the shine and the pupil
b} draw a diagonal line from the top left to the bottom right which touches the shine and goes through the pupil
c} draw a line straight across, through the pupil and directly under the shine
d} mark the half way point between the middle line and the lower line like I have.
Step 6) Draw a black line from the top right line to the little mark between the middle line and the lower diagonal line.
Step 7) Draw the eyelashes as shown...or any way you want to, I like to add a thin line along the bottom.
Step 8) Draw the upper eyelid like shown, Ilike to add the little dot thingie which goes in the corner of your eye (That isn't there in *true* anime as far as I know)
Step 9) This is where I draw the lines of the iris, I always leave out the upper section of the shine as is normal in anime and manga
Step 10) Add the shadow of the iris, I like to round it so the colour left of the iris is like a bent sausage.
Step 11) Colour the iris in any colour you like, anime and manga are well know for bizarre eye colours...
Step 12) As I usually do this on paper I either use ink pen to shade the iris colour by going over the bits I want to darken or using a white coloured pencil to highlight bits I want lightened (usually a white watercolour pencil), then because no ones eyes are completely white I add a blue-grey shadow on the eyeball just under teh lashes and where it would be shadowed on the lower part of the eyeball.

And you're done! ^_^
